About Lead Recorder

Built by an agency ownerwho was sick of guessing

Not a venture-backed platform, not a faceless “team.” Lead Recorder is built and run by one person you can actually get on a call with.

“Which of these leads actually came from what we're paying for?”

I run SEO Growth, an SEO and Google Ads agency in Sydney managing 130+ client campaigns. That question came up in almost every client call, and GA4 never had a good answer. It could tell me a session happened. It couldn't tell me a form submission or phone call turned into a real enquiry, or which specific ad, keyword, or landing page was behind it.

So earlier this year I built a script that sat on client sites, watched for form fills and phone clicks, and matched each one back to the campaign that drove it — for our own internal reporting, nothing more. It worked well enough that clients started asking if they could get it on sites we didn't manage. That internal tool became Lead Recorder.

It's still built the way I'd want a tool like this run if I were the customer: plain-English answers instead of another dashboard to interpret, a free plan with no credit card, and a founder who reads support email himself.

How Lead Recorder is actually run

A few things that stay true regardless of how big this gets:

  • Bootstrapped, not VC-funded. Built with SEO Growth's own revenue. No investors to grow into a support queue you can't escape.
  • Dogfooded daily. SEO Growth runs its own client reporting on Lead Recorder, so it breaks for us before it breaks for you.
  • Built in public. Progress, decisions, and numbers get shared on Indie Hackers, not hidden behind a marketing team.
  • Straight about security and data. No SOC 2 binder, just a plain-English Security page covering encryption, hosting, and access.
